Justin Heritage Foundation Regular Meeting Minutes

The regular meeting was called to order at 5:03pm and was presided over by President, Jennifer Green.
Board members in attendance: Lea Bryant, Carla Rotmans, India White, Kelli Thielemann, Gwen St. Clair,
Glenda Garrett
Active members in attendance: Shanna Moore, Brooks White, Tomas Mendoza
Associate members in attendance: Keri Hogan
Minutes from the previous meeting on March 11, 2025 were approved as read.
I.
1. Report presented by President, Jennifer Green
● Replacement of VP and Secretary positions to be addressed at next month’s meeting.
● No update on Krum Heritage Museum.
● Grant Committee.
-Need volunteers for this committee.
-Randy Hutcheson (grant writer) will review grant requests before being submitted (will
provide service pro bono).
-Zoom meeting will be held Wednesday, April 9, at 5:30pm.
● Ice Cream Social (May 17, 2025).
-Permit for Bishop Park approved by City.
-India White and Lea Bryant will reach out to last year’s sponsors and vendors.
-Glenda Garrett to contact City for advertising.
-Zoom meeting to be held Tuesday, April 15, at 5:30pm.
● Gaston House
-Discussion on City’s proposal to sale the house to JHF for $1 and have a land lease-no
specific details in writing at this time from the City (Brooks White will be receiving.).
JHF will have a real estate lawyer to review the contract before it’s signed – Brooks
White has a legal contact to reach out to for possible assistance.
-Discussion on questions needing answers for this proposal; Members to send their
questions to Glenda Garrett to create a document.
-Brooks White to request from City the report done by their architect.
-India White to reach out to Nelson Hodges (historical architect) for his services or for
suggested referral.
Motion moved by India White to approve the hiring of Nelson Hodges if he’s agreeable
for up to 5 hours of consulting fee.
Seconded by Lea Bryant.
Motion carried unanimously.
-Brooks White and Glenda Garrett to meet with City on April 17, 2025.
2. Report presented by Builder Director, India White
● Newsletter is complete.
-Will use format of previous newsletter.
-Will go out April 15 by email, website, Facebook.
-15 th of the month is the date for the newsletter to be sent going forward.
3. Report presented by Resource Development Director, Lea Bryant
● Discussed research found on similar projects as the Gaston House.
● Discussed research found on grants for JHF to pursue; will update the list.
4. Report presented by Historic Director, Gwen St. Clair
• Discussed a new program of recognizing Justin businesses that have been in
operation for 50 or more years (ie farm owners; Justin Boots); highlight them in
newsletter/other.
5. Report presented by Membership Director, Glenda Garrett
• JHF will participate in Justin Community Egg Hunt (April 19, 2025); need volunteers to
man the booth.
• Discussed being asked by City of our interest to participate in Justin Fun Days (April 26,
2025); Members agreed to have a booth.
II. Unfinished Business
● Revisions to Bylaws as it relates to Board of Directors/Officers designation
● Replacement for VP and Secretary positions
III. Agenda, Date and Time of Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on May 13, 2025 at 5:00pm.
