Justin Heritage Foundation Regular Meeting Minutes

The regular meeting was called to order at 5:06 pm and was presided over by President, Jennifer Green with Bonnie McCaig as Secretary.   


Board members in attendance:  India White, Gwen St. Clair, Glenda Garrett, Lea Bryant, Bailey Acosta, Lisa Dyer, Kelli Thielemann

Board members absent:  none

Guests in attendance: Brooks White, Molly Deussen

Minutes from the previous meeting on July 7, 2022, has been approved as read.


  • Consideration and Action of Agenda Items

    1. Report was presented by President, Jennifer Green on historical architecture meeting with Place Strategies. 

    1. Report presented by Treasurer, Lisa Dyer.
    • Emma is willing to volunteer accounting services.  
    • 7/29/22 Financial Statement read and discussed.

    1. Further discussion of ideas and additional projects JHF can engage in to preserve and enhance the community. 
    • Garrett house.
    • Parks and Recreation Board Veterans Memorial at Bishop Park - donating benches and/or picnic tables.
    • Partner with City of Justin Library historical meetings and archives.
    • Booth at National Night Out 10/4/22 at Bishop Park. 

    1. Report on Sam Reynolds house presented by Treasurer, Lisa Dyer.  

    1. Report presented by Gwen St. Clair, Director of the Historical Committee. 
    • Contact owners of historical homes & buildings to learn about their history and gather any documents/photos.
    • Publish The Justin Story by Grace Parr.  
      • Need to research who owns rights. 


    1. Report presented by Glenda Garrett, Membership Director.  
    • Tri-fold brochure  
    • Newsletter template
    • Welcome letter pending. 
    • Plan for membership drive pending.

    1. Report presented by Resource Development Director, Lea Bryant. 
    • NWHS Craft Fair 10/29/22.  Proposal for 2 tables discussed. 

    Motion: Moved by India White to approve $150 for 2 tables at Northwest High School Craft Fair. 

    Motion carried unanimously. 

    • Proposal of engraved bricks donation to City of Justin locations, i.e.  new City Hall location.
    • Calendars
    • Cookbook
    • Map of City of Justin businesses and JHF sponsorship.

    1. Report presented by Director of the Builder Committee, India White.
    • Landscape Architects.

    1. Report presented by Marketing & Security Director, Kelli Thielemann. 
    • Security concern at Gaston House. 

    Motion: Moved by Jennifer Green for $150 for camera and receipt folder for Treasurer, Lisa Dyer.

    Motion carried unanimously.



  • New Business

    • Discussion on Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with City of Justin.
      • Complete prior to City of Justin taking ownership of Gaston house.  
      • Tabled for discussion next meeting.

    • Discussion on a rental agreement and timing.  
    • Interim building construction loan.

    The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 pm by President, Jennifer Green.
