The regular meeting was called to order at 5:12 pm and was presided over by President, Jennifer Green.
Board members in attendance: Glenda Garrett, Gwen St. Clair, Lea Bryant, Lisa Dyer, India White, Kelli Thielemann.
Board members absent: Bailey Acosta, Bonnie McCaig
Active members in attendance: Rich Garrett
Associate members in attendance: Courtnery Pacheco, Karen Pacheco, Toni Bostick, Brooks White
Minutes from the previous meeting on October 12, 2023, have been approved as read.
- Consideration and Action of Agenda Items
- Report presented by President Jennifer Green
- Discussion on Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with City of Justin.
- Input received from Peggy Riddle ( Director/Denton County Office of History and Culture) and Justin Heritage Foundation members.
- MOU is on “Consent Agenda” for the City of Justin Council’s November 9th meeting.
Motion moved by Lea Bryant to authorize Jennifer Green to sign the MOU (second draft received on October 31, 2023) with the City of Justin upon the City of Justin Council’s approval of MOU.
Motion carried unanimously.
- Casino Royale Night
- Update given on expenses and profit made.
- Casino Royale Night Committee planning a meeting in January 2024 to begin plans for 2024’s event.
- Lea Bryant to design a holiday card with JHF theme to send as thank you notes for sponsors of Casino Royale Night.
Motion moved by India White for purchase up to $50 for holiday JHF themed thank you notes for Casino Royale Night sponsors.
Motion carried unanimously.
- Holiday Gift Tour benefiting Justin Heritage Foundation is November 25, 2023.
- Motion moved by India White for payment up to $226 for purchase of shopping bags and sublimation paper for Holiday Gift Tour.
Motion carried unanimously.
- Quote given by Burns & Wilcox for 6 months $778.27.
Motion moved by Lea Bryant for payment up to $778.27 to Burns & Wilcox.
Motion carried unanimously.
- Report presented by Treasurer, Lisa Dyer.
- Copies of October 2023 bank statement and financial statement update (January 1 – November 9, 2023) provided.
- Lisa Dyer advised she is resigning from her position as Treasurer as of November 9, 2023.
- Report presented by Builder Director, India White.
- Discussed the need to find an accountant for any audit requests.
- Report presented by Resource Development Director, Lea Bryant.
- India White and Lea Bryant will be meeting with the City of Justin Economic Development Corporation and Community Development Corporation (EDC/CDC) on November 16, 2023, to present a grant request for a fence around the park area of the Gaston House.
- Pursuing information on other grants.
- Discussion on a system to record historical artifacts in JHF’s possession.
- India White to research.
- Discussion on changing the date of the JHF monthly regular meeting from the 2nd Thursday to the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. effective December 2023.
Motion moved by Glenda Garrett to change meetings to 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. effective December 2023.
Motion carried unanimously.
The next meeting will be held on December 12, 2023, at 6:00 pm for a Christmas gathering.
